SCAR THERAPY
What is Scar Therapy?
A scar is a mark left on the skin after a wound heals, resulting from the body’s natural repair process. It forms when new collagen fibers replace the damaged tissue, often appearing as raised, sunken, or discoloured areas. Factors like wound size, location, and skin type influence scar formation.
Scar Therapy
Scar therapy is a combination of treatment techniques that can help stimulate your scar and the underlying tissue by softening fibrosis.
Treatment can help reduce symptoms related to your surgery or injury, for example

-
pain, sensitivity or numbness
-
limited movement or tightness
-
pulling or puckering
-
fibrous scar tissue or scar adhesions
A personalised treatment plan is made after a comprehensive assessment is completed. The treatment uses specialist scar massage and fascial techniques, at the right pace and pressure to suit each individual.
**Scars must be fully healed before starting treatment**
"Self care advice for caring for your scar at home is provided. Scars of any age can be treated."
